Last night, while thanking everyone for their oh-so-kind Birthday Wishes for this oldster, I noticed the following come across my Facebook Page:
“Altering the membership of the Harford County Republican Party Central Committee; providing that specified Republican Party members of the House of Delegates who represent Harford County shall be members of the Central Committee; providing that the Republican Party members of the House of Delegates on the Central Committee may vote on matters, as specified; prohibiting a member of the Central Committee from holding any other elected office in the county; making the Act an emergency measure; etc.”
This, Emergency HB 1513, was then remarked upon by Carol Owen Loveless – a self- described constitutionalist, who is running for Delegate in District 9B, in which she said…
“This doesn’t seem right. Why the sudden change? Hartford County? What’s up?”
I agree wholeheartedly with Loveless’ initial gut reaction…something doesn’t seem right whatsoever. And, that’s because something is very, very wrong with this crap that was pulled last night.
The last bit of that above paragraph was brought home to me in no uncertain terms by a some who’d attended the meeting at which said crap was pulled.
One of them told me, “It gives each of the members of the Harford delegation A VOTE in the central committee to add or remove members as needed. Also disallows those who hold other offices from holding central committee positions, except for the delegation, of course.”
In other words, the GOP in Harford County just fell victim to some self-perceived Kingmaker…and the Kingmaker has a name and it be Impallaria, as in Delegate Rick Impallaria, according to my fellow blogger Jeff Quinton: http://www.quintonreport.com/2014/03/05/emergency-legislation-would-alter-harford-gop-central-committee/ . It appears that Delegate Rick Impallaria wants to take on the entire Liberty Movement. Good Luck with that…or rather, Screw you for doing that, Rick!
One of my own sources also told me that Impallaria was trying to be a Kingmaker. Seriously, Rick? What the Hell, man? I remember when you first ran in your frumpy suits and even frumpier language – back when you used to stand for something other than your own self-aggrandizement and power. Remember those days, King Rick? Do you? Do you…? So, now you want to be a Delegate AND a Central Committee member? About the only thing I would trust Rick Impallaria to do at this point is spin his story about why he did what he did to Red Maryland. They’ll probably buy it.
Another thing this one source told me about what went down was “This is a stab at stacking the deck…”
What all this boils down to, ultimately is that, in the words of Conservative activist Tonya Watson Tiffany, “The Harford Co. Delegation put in an emergency bill to have themselves named the Republican Central Committee…. I looked up the candidate list thinking that maybe no one had filed….. 32 people have filed. A very strong showing of Campaign for Liberty people among them. I will let you make your own conclusions.”
Lastly, one of my sources from last night, Greg Johnson, a political activist and Harford County resident – not to mention one of the most principled men I’ve met in 30 plus years in this business had this to say about what took place last night:
“They are literally subverting the voters of Harford County and declaring themselves de facto members of the Central Committee with the full powers of removal from office members who were duly elected.”
That’s right, ladies and gents. Harford County’s delegation has reserved the right to remove from office central committee members who were duly elected and replace them with…themselves. How positively Obama-esque!
(Live the Boot of Tyranny, Love the Boot of Tyranny, Be the Boot of Tyranny.)
Stating that what those Harford County Delegates did (and, I’m looking at you, Pat McDonough, Wayne Norman and Kathy Szeliga the latter two who should have KNOWN better – as well as Rick Impallaria) “is tyranny defined,” Johnson added that, “These are people who are supposed to be constitutional, who were elected based on that notion. It’s a power grab. They even exempt themselves like an Obamanista would. It’s unbelievable. This is something you expect from Democrats; not Republicans.”
Yes, it is Mr. Johnson. And, if the MDGOP establishment wants to know why so many Maryland Republicans are looking elsewhere…maybe you need to look no further than at this naked power grab.., in which they exposed themselves so graphically. Right here.
