The interesting thing about writing is, to me anyway, some of the comments you get from time to time. Suffice it to say that, after reading a comment I got and approved this morning regarding my piece entitled, “If I Were a Pervert…” it is obvious I get read by the brain dead as well as all of you lovely, dear readers.
Now, on with the matter at hand…
Imagine being little old me and getting a new fundraising pitch put out by Yvette Lewis, Chair of the Maryland Democratic Party. Well, you don’t have to imagine it, because it is copied – word for word – below, as Ms. Lewis announces a new initiative, entitled Maryland ENGAGE.
And, here it is:
I have something very exciting to share,______!
The Maryland Democratic Party is thrilled to announce a new program focusing on our grassroots fundraising. MD ENGAGE is our push to Encourage New Grassroots Activists to Give Effectively. MD ENGAGE will enable us to expand our reach to more supporters, like you, in all corners of the state. As we progress into 2014, a year that will present a multitude of challenges for Democrats across the state, it is important we have your backing for our efforts.
Our goal for 2014 is to have 150 Members join our MD ENGAGE Club. For only $20/month, we can help elect Democrats during this critical year! Click here to sign up today.
For a recurring contribution of $20/month over 12 months, you will receive:
• MD 2014 ENGAGE Club pin
• Reduced ticket prices to MDP events, including our Annual Gala
• Invitations to conference calls
• Email updates on important races
The importance of your support cannot be emphasized enough. 2014 will be a year that decides it all, with races from State Delegate to Governor, County Executive to Federal Representative; Maryland’s future is at stake. Our grassroots efforts can make the difference between victory and defeat.

(Honey, with this ring, I ask you to contribute $20 a month to the MD Dems…)
Well, Ms. Lewis’ email gives me cause for…pause and begs the question: The Democrats in MD need help? When the Hell did THAT happen? And, how ridiculously asinine (and to what lengths will they go) to come up with ludicrous acronyms to fit damned near every conceivable occasion?
Okay, but since they did it, I’m going to do it, too. Here’s a couple of other ideas for more – and far truer – acronyms for the MD Dems to use in their next fundraising scheme. For instance, after they get ENGAGED, they can further,… (ScrewYou)
Underestimated…to do damage to your liberties.
And, following that, they can then proceed to (EATME)
At which point, I’d like to tell them this one:
Unions…of family, faith and enterprise.
I could go on and one, but you get the picture, I’m sure….
