For fear of pissing off Red Maryland’s or Rudimentary Maryland’s “Fearsome” duo of Kim Greg Kline and the “Li’l Guy” – and if you try to claim you don’t know who I’m talking about, I might think you’re lying – I am, nonetheless, putting these thoughts, as they are, to pixels.
Rudimentary Maryland is doing nothing if not helping Wendi Peters in her application to become Delegate Kelly Schulz’s replacement in LD 4 once Schulz becomes the new Secretary of the Department of Licensing, Labor and Regulation (DLLR).
Why do I say this? Well, just as it becomes clear that the Frederick County GOP Central Committee wouldn’t even list Wendi Peters (who was the next highest vote getter in the 2014 primary, behind Kelly Schulz, Kathy Afzali and David Vogt – rhymes with “goat”) as one of its top 3 preferred candidates – ah, the trials and tribulations of political legerdemain – Rudimentary Maryland takes to its website or “radio” show or whatever – to keep pounding away at her and her supporters. Hell, they even took a shot at Ryan Miner for daring to write a pro-Wendi Peters and anti-Michael Hough piece. (For those of you who don’t know, Hough kicked longtime State Senator David Brinkley to the curb – and is now the Senator-elect out yonder.)
So, what happened? Well, Carroll County’s GOP Central Committee, which had originally announced that it wouldn’t take part in the preference listing of their top 3 choices (they, like Frederick County have a say in this matter) has now announced that it will, indeed, take part in the process. Please, Carroll County Republicans, jump on those guys if necessary to ensure that Wendi Peters at least gets a hearing.
So, why do I think anything I write here could chance pissing off Kim Greg Kline and the “Li’l Guy?” Because, as has become the norm for them – when they say or insinuate that they want “A” to happen, it’s a good bet that what will happen will be anything but “A.”
Whatever…and I’m not 100% sure of the timing of things in this instance (and, nor do I give enough of a damn about RM to listen to or read anything they do or say), but it constantly amazes me at just how wrong those two are about damned near everything. Additionally, they never take the blame for anything they do – as in getting an elected official’s marital status wrong or misspelling an easy name to spell of a MD GOP elected official and they take credit for things in which whatever they may have said or written had a minimal, if any, effect – as in one recent inter party race. In fact, I’ve heard from more than one or ten people that RM has openly claimed credit for Larry Hogan’s becoming the Governor-Elect. Are you kidding me? Ego and arrogance, much?
(RM Goes On the Road…)
Whatever, part 2…I’ve made it perfectly clear that I am both a Kelly Schulz and a Wendi Peters fan. I’ve endorsed them both in the past. In addition, I am also a fan of Michael Hough– whose wife runs the Frederick County GOP Central Committee. All I can say at this point, however, is that it amazes me that ANY central committee would ignore the next highest vote getter – especially since they chose as one of their three names the guy who finished behind her by about 700 or so votes.
That being said in response to Frederick County’s GOP Central Committee blowing off Wendi Peters I received an email which, in part states:
“There will be a protest at the Frederick GOP Central Committee meeting on Wednesday, January 7th, at 7:00pm. The location is Frederick Air, 3 King Avenue, Frederick, MD. I did not organize this, but it is happening so we need a good turnout.
The critics will say that protesting will “deepen existing rifts”, but the critics forget that we elected the Frederick GOP Central Committee to represent us. When they don’t, we have a 1st Amendment right to speak out…”
This email adds in jest that the following is also important: “BEHAVE YOURSELVES. Do not set couches on fire.”
That protest is taking place tomorrow night, kiddies.
And, whether that does any good, find out what’s going on with Carroll County’s GOP Central Committee. Make sure that they are putting forth Wendi Peters’ name as one of their three choices. From that point on, it’s up to the Governor-elect to pick one candidate to make Kelly Schulz’s replacement as Delegate in District 4.
Lastly, while I am fully aware that Larry Hogan can choose whomever he wants – regardless of what either central committee says, I still think it’s important for at least one of the central committees to officially give him the best option, especially since the woman she would be replacing at the Governor-elect’s behest, Kelly Schulz, has wholeheartedly endorsed her: Wendi Peters.
