With former Governor Bobby Ehrlich’s legacy, Governor Martin O’Malley set to become a former Governor, himself, within 24 hours of this writing – and with the Washington Post having already done their “What’s In, What’s Out in Larry Hogan’s Annapolis” (crab soup is IN and Guinness in the Fridge at the Governor’s mansion is OUT) piece, I am left with one question:
When in the Hell is Larry Hogan going to appoint Dan Bongino to head the Maryland State Police (MSP)?
I ask this because Bongingo, whom I know and like (but with whom I had no contact prior to/about writing this piece), seems to me to be the perfect fit for the incoming administration’s top dog at the MSP.
I’m not going into a full Bongino history here – Hell, most of you all probably know it, anyway. But, suffice it to say that the former NYC police officer who later was part of the palace guard in the Secret Service where he protected both Presidents W. Bush and Obama certainly has the pedigree.
(I can’t believe Dan Bongino has yet to be appointed as MSP Super…)
And, he has the charisma and the right politics to put Hogan’s right flank at ease, at least as concerns the law and order aspect of his administration. The Dan Bongino I know is a conservative-libertarian who believes in gun rights. He also is a no-nonsense kind of guy who will do his damnedest to right the ship at the MSP.
So, to the Governor-Elect, I ask you to do everyone a favor – yourself, included, by appointing Dan Bongino to be the head of the MSP.
He ain’t no Ed Norris.
